Loss of skin firmness

Loss of skin firmness is a natural process occurring as a result of skin aging. The firmness of the skin isensured by fibroblasts (connective tissue cellstaking part in the production of collagen and elastin proteins).  As the skin ages, it has less capacity for intensive regeneration causing its sagging. It also means reduction in the number of fibroblasts which results in the appearance of wrinkles. The first signs of skin aging can be seen already at the age of 20. Nasolabial furrows start to appear as well as so-called “crow’s feet” in the area of eyes. Over time, wrinkles appear around the forehead, on the line between the nose and mouth, between the eyebrows, on the neck and cleavage. Most wrinkles are formed during the menopause, due to the reduction of female hormones –oestrogens.
